I posted this on Deviant Art a while ago.  I don't know why I didn't post it here too.  I must be getting old and senile, I guess.  Anyway, this is a little something I drew (if that's what you wanna call it) quite some time ago.  I'm sure I was either totally bored or totally nuts.....

If you've never heard of it before, this type of artwork is called pointillism.  The entire composition is made up of nothing but dots.  There is not a single line drawn anywhere in the picture.  This particular piece was done with a black ink pen on white craft paper....just lots and lots of little pen points....millions and trillions and cadrillions of them.  Don't ask me how long it took me to complete it, cuz I can't remember.  I do remember that it was quite fun to create, if not a little monotonous.  But anyway, just thought I would share. :-)

That's awesome! ...And I just learned a new word, yay.

This "pointillism" almost reminds me the way an LCD screen displays!

Wow that's gorgeous. And it must have taken you forever if its all dots. I wish I could draw (or dot) like that.

Thank you! It did take quite a while to complete, I just can't remember how long exactly. It's a good way to relieve some frustration and anger though, lol, just poke and poke and poke at the paper. ;-)

Oh, WOW! I missed this post - amazing! I was about to ask how did you add the gorgeous texture, then I read the explanation and it made the pic ten times more amazing! Great job hon!! :D

Thanks, hon! Good old-fashioned paper and pencil (or pen) art is my first love. And I draw animals more than anything else. This is my one and only animal pointillism, although I do have another pointillism of a lighthouse floating around somewhere too. I just have to be in the mood to do these types of pieces because they are very tedious and time-consuming. But I'm glad to see the effort pays off and people enjoy the finished product. :)

I just saw this, my LJ stalking power must be failing me somehow.

My art teacher taught us pointillism in high school and for a while, it was my favorite technique cause its so mindless. I'd pop in a DVD and start dotting.

I like the eye and composition; but did you get lazy and used size 5 or larger pens? *tell the truth now? >.<* cause the dots look pretty big (maybe its the scan).

Nope, I used the same size pen for the entire piece, although I don't remember what size it was. The only place where the dots are larger is the "shading" just above and just below the wolf's head. I think that's the last section I worked on, and the part I was most in a hurry to finally complete, haha.
